Barbara is the principal in charge of BDMP Wealth Management. Her practice focuses primarily on providing comprehensive, personalized financial and estate planning to individuals facing life's transitions and on providing a wide variety of retirement plan investment platforms and advice to business clients. She has had extensive experience dealing with the unique financial and consulting issues facing retirees, such as wealth transfer, charitable giving, long-term care issues, Medicare and Medicaid, and retirement community living. Barbara is fully registered for investments and is a securities principal through Commonwealth Financial Network, Member FINRA/SIPC. She is also licensed to provide life, health, disability and long-term care insurance.
Prior to joining BDMP, Barbara was President of NorthStar Retirement Strategies. NorthStar was a financial planning firm and registered investment advisor that provided comprehensive and independent retirement and estate planning to individuals and small businesses.
Before NorthStar, Barbara practiced law in the financial services and litigation groups at Drummond Woodsum & MacMahon in Portland, Maine. Her time at Drummond Woodsum gave her extensive experience representing financial institutions, federal government agencies, insurance companies, insurance trade organizations, and employers and employees in a wide variety of litigation and transactional matters. Prior to joining Drummond Woodsum, Barbara was law clerk to former Chief Justice of the Maine Supreme Court, Daniel Wathen.

Barbara holds a B.A. from Vassar College from which she graduated with distinction; Phi Beta Kappa and Fulbright Fellowship in 1978. She then received an M.A. from Middlebury College in 1983. Barbara received her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law in 1988. While in law school, Barbara was an editor of Maine Law Review and she received awards in Corporate Taxation, Jurisprudence, and Torts. Barbara graduated cum laude. She speaks fluent French and some Spanish.
Barbara serves on the Board of Directors of FAMA Ministries, a Maine non-profit organization focused on restoring, protecting, and rehabilitating the family in the war-torn Great Lakes Region of Central Africa and as the Director of Morninglight Women's Ministry. She has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Root Cellar, an inner city ministry.
